EFRP responds to EIOPA consultation on IORP Review
2 January 2012 – The EFRP has submitted its response to EIOPA’s second consultation on the European Commission’s Call for Advice on the review of the IORP Directive. The EFRP welcomes the improvement of IORP governance and better communication of information to members and beneficiaries. However, the EFRP warns that quantitative requirements based on a Solvency II –framework will have a negative impact on pension plan sponsors, members, beneficiaries and the entire European economy. The EFRP calls for a rigorous impact assessment before any revision of the Directive takes place in order to point out the impacts on the sustainability and adequacy of workplace pensions across Europe.
